Bollywood actress Kajol visited Kolkata's Dakshineswar Kali Temple on Wednesday, where she offered prayers and sought blessings from the goddess before starting the promotional campaign of her upcoming film Maa. Her visit to the temple marked the beginning of the film’s promotion. After offering prayers, Kajol said, “I really like coming to Kolkata. Whenever I come to Maa, I feel like I am with my real mother, like I have come to my maternal home. I like to start every new beginning with Maa’s blessings, and that is why I started the promotion of the film Maa from here.”
Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is a mythological horror thriller centered on a mother’s struggle to protect her child from a mysterious supernatural force. Kajol plays the lead role in the film, which is jointly produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with Kumar Mangat Pathak as co-producer. The cast includes Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma in important roles.
Kajol stated that Maa is the most powerful character she has played in her career. According to her, the film combines elements of horror and mystery while also focusing on the eternal battle between good and evil. “This film is a matter of pride for me,” she said. Kajol mentioned that the story explores how a mother’s love, courage, and belief become her biggest strengths in the face of danger.
During the visit, Kajol also spoke about the Indian armed forces in the context of Operation Sindoor. She said, “I have great respect for our armed forces. The way they dedicate themselves day and night to protect the country, I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart.”
